Julie Harper, MD

Julie Harper received her undergraduate degree from the University of Mississippi with a B.A. in psychology. She continued her education and received her medical degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis. While in medical school, she was awarded Alumni Achievement Award in Clinical Medicine in 1999 for excellence in medical arts and sciences and dedication to the highest ethical and professional standards. Dr. Harper completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. She was elected Administrative Chief Resident in 2002-2003 and received the Charles E. Flowers Jr. Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2000-2001. Previously, Julie Harper was in private practice with Memphis Obstetrics and Gynecology Associates and served on the DeSoto Surgery Center Medical Advisory Board. Dr. Harper is a board certified Fellow of ACOG.

Hobbies: Dr. Harper””s hobbies include keeping up with her two college kids and two younger kids, who are involved in travel swim, baseball, soccer and basketball.

Family: Dr. Harper is married to James D. Harper, an attorney with Harper Whitwell. They have four children.

Interesting Fact: She is a third-generation physician. Her mother and grandfather both graduated from UTHSH and practiced medicine together in Memphis.

Favorite thing about her job: She enjoys working with women through all aspects of their life, from the adolescent stage to menopausal years. She says, “I am privileged to get to partner with them in health and starting their families along this journey.”
