Cynthia Fernandez, MD

Dr. Cynthia Fernandez is a board certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist who has had the privilege of initially practicing in Columbus, Georgia with OB/GYN Associates since July, 1991 transitioning to St. Francis-Emory OB/GYN Associates. She has performed Gynecologic services only for approximately the last 16 years, enjoying the interaction with her patients as they’ve progressed through their various stages of reproductive health. She specializes in office well women and problem visits as well as procedures such as LEEP, colposcopies, IUD insertions and removals, among others. She performs minimally invasive surgeries such as laparoscopy, hysteroscopy, endometrial ablation and hysterectomy among others for conditions ranging from abnormal pap smears, pelvic pain, abnormal bleeding, endometriosis, painful coitus, pelvic prolapse, pelvic masses and uterine fibroids. She graduated from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, GA, where she performed both her Internship and Residency. She’s a member of the Georgia OB/GYN Society and the Muscogee Medical Society. One area of particular interest that she enjoys is addressing hormonal issues of women during the perimenopause and postmenopausal time frames. She had experience with hormone pellet replacement therapy while in residency, and she’s been excited to offer women that option now since 2017. She approaches it with the patient’s desires, goals, and objective data to support a more “optimal” level of functioning during those years.
