John McGettigan, MD

Dr. McGettigan is the founder and driving force behind Qualify of Life Medical Center (QLMC) and Quality of Life Medical & Research Center (QLMRC), and a graduate of Emory Medical School in Atlanta, Georgia. After moving to Tucson, Dr. McGettigan attended the University of Arizona, where he trained as a General Surgeon before specializing in Emergency Medicine. Later, at Thomas Davis Medical Center, Dr. McGettigan was one of the first doctors added to the staff, working in the Urgent Care clinic.

It was in 2000 that Dr. McGettigan branched off into private practice and launched QLMC, specializing in Men’s Health and General Medicine. Then, in 2001, Dr. McGettigan attained synergy by adding a research division – QLMRC – to his medical practice.

QLMRC has grown into a regional leader in the pioneering of new drugs and medical procedures. John Vonkersburg, PA

John vonKersburg PA-C is a native of Durango, Colorado and has been in Tucson for the past 12 years. John graduated Magna Cum Laude from Grand College University in human biology and exercise physiology. John received his degree as a physician’s assistant from the Arizona School of Health Sciences.

In his years of medical practice John has taken a holistic approach to treating patients’ symptoms and working to counsel the patient to get back to their optimum health. John has an extensive background in internal medicine.

John’s passion in medicine circles around the field of bariatric medicine and the field of medically supervised weight loss.

Patricia Jalomo, DNP, WHNP

Patricia Jalomo is a board certified Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner and Pelvic Physiotherapist. She completed both her Masters of Science in Nursing and Doctorate in Nursing Practice degrees at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing in Nashville, Tennessee. In addition to providing general women’s health care, she specializes in female urology and sexual health. Patricia is uniquely qualified as the only Nurse Practitioner in Arizona to be board certified by the highly recognized Biofeedback Certification International Alliance in Pelvic Muscle Dysfunction (BCB-PMD). As the sole clinician in a successful pelvic floor rehabilitation program, she has gained valuable experience using surface electromyography, anorectal manometry, electric muscle stimulation, therapeutic ultrasound, and myofascial release techniques to treat a wide variety of female pelvic disorders. By combining non-surgical therapies and behavioral modifications with the option of pharmaceuticals, women who suffer from urinary and fecal incontinence, chronic pelvic pain, pelvic organ prolapse, and sexual dysfunction have seen significant improvements in their quality of life. Additionally, she has had training in visceral mobilization, percutaneous tibial nerve stimulation and yoga for pelvic pain.

Patricia is an adjunct faculty member and instructor for the University of Phoenix, as well as a student preceptor for the University of Arizona’s Family Nurse Practitioner program. She has developed a women’s only educational forum called “Girl Talk” that addresses topics including urinary incontinence, bowel disorders, sex after menopause, chronic urinary tract infections, overactive bladder, bioidentical hormone therapy, and sexual assistive devices. She believes in lifelong learning and is very passionate about helping women to realize that these issues do not have to be an accepted part of life.

Additionally, Patricia is certified by the American Council on Exercise as a personal trainer and health coach. In her free time, she enjoys weight training, cycling, running, and traveling with her two grown children and granddaughter. She is a member of the American Nurses Association, Arizona Nurses Association, Society of Urologic Nurses and Associates, and the International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health.

Mikell Karsten, MD

Dr. Karsten is a graduate of Mercer University School of Medicine in Macon, Georgia. He completed his internship and two years of obstetrics and gynecology residency at East Tennessee State University. He then decided to pursue a Masters in Public Health degree to become board certified in Preventative Medicine. He was acting medical director for his local county’s correctional center prior to going into private practice with Tucson Quality of Life and Research Center. He also works part time making house calls to local assisted living facilities. His interests in medicine include primary care, hormone replacement therapy, weight loss, anti-aging, and aesthetics.
